Professor Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones is a leading academic in the field of European minority languages, based at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. She serves as Director of the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies (CAWCS) and holds strategic roles in cultural organizations such as Mercator Strategic Director and Wales Literature Exchange.

Her expertise spans three decades, with a focus on media, policy, and creative industries within minority language contexts. She has supervised 10 PhD candidates to completion and currently oversees two fully funded doctorates. As a multilingual scholar, she speaks Welsh, English, Basque, Catalan, French, Galician, Spanish, and has knowledge of Italian, Portuguese, German, and Irish.
Professor Jones is actively involved in international research assessment panels, doctoral thesis examinations, and serves on the Executive Committee of ELEN, the Board of the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and chairs Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch. She was appointed to the Council of Europe’s expert group on Media for the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in 2017.
