Elicia Lewis

Elicia Lewis is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for Secondary Religious Education (RE) at the University of East London's School of Childhood and Social Care, Department of Education. She leads PGCE and School Direct RE programmes while also directing the Primary PGCE Humanities with RE route.

Her research focuses on Religious Education pedagogy, classroom error climates, and psychological theories in educational settings. She explores soft failure's role in building resilience, RE practice innovations, and technology integration in teaching. Her publications analyze peer mentoring dynamics, third-space learning, and digital knowledge tracking.

Recent work examines trainee teachers' transitions to professional practice, emphasizing course preparedness and employment readiness.

As Subject Lead, she oversees RE programme design, coordinates school partnerships, and mentors trainees. She serves as External Examiner for UCL Institute of Education's RE PGCE and provides consultancy on thinking skills, P4C, and gifted education.
