Elena Valdameri

Elena Valdameri is Lecturer in Modern History at ETH Zurich, specializing in South Asian history with focus on:

• Gender and physical education in colonial contexts
• Nationalism and anticolonial movements
• Body politics and citizenship formation
• Transnational knowledge circulation

Her research examines how physical education programs for women became sites for political negotiation in colonial India. Current projects investigate playground development as spaces for shaping future citizens in Asia during decolonization.
