Elena Stylianou is an Associate Professor of Art History and Theory at the Department of Arts, European University Cyprus (2012–present), also serving as Coordinator of the BA in Graphic Design (2009–2012). She holds a Ed.D. (2007) and Ed.M. (2004) from Columbia University, specializing in Arts Education, and a B.Ed. (2001) in Math and Science Education from the University of Cyprus.
Her research focuses on contemporary art, museum pedagogy, photography, and Cypriot cultural identity. Notable projects include leading the Ar(t)chaeology exhibition (2017–2018) and co-editing Contemporary Art in Cyprus (2019). She has curated educational programs for major Nicosia exhibitions and contributed to initiatives like EDUCLAB (Erasmus+ project on digital culture).
Her academic service includes roles as President of the International Association of Photography and Theory (IAPT), Taylor & Francis journal reviewer for photographies, and member of Cyprus' State Art Collection Selection Committee. Awards include the Erasmus+ Fellowship (2018) and multiple research grants from European University Cyprus and the Institute of Education, University of London.
Publications span themes like digital heritage, STEAM education, and curatorial practices. Recent work explores emerging technologies in art education and gender equality in interdisciplinary fields.
