Elena Razlogova

Elena Razlogova is an Associate Professor of History at Concordia University's Department of History, part of the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, an M.A. from New York University, and a Ph.D. from George Mason University.

Her research focuses on Cold War media infrastructures, Soviet and global cinema networks, algorithmic music recommendation systems, and the history of radio. Notable projects include studies on Sino-Soviet film diplomacy, Pan-African cinema circuits, and the transformation of freeform radio into digital streaming platforms.

Razlogova has published widely in journals such as American Quarterly and Cultural Studies, and edited special issues like the Radical Histories in Digital Culture for Radical History Review. Her current book project examines freeform radio station WFMU's influence on online music culture.

Her work bridges media history with digital culture studies, emphasizing transnational networks and the socio-technical dimensions of cultural exchange. Key themes include algorithmic bias in music platforms, the politics of translation in film festivals, and the material infrastructure of Cold War media systems.
