Elena Pessini

Elena Pessini serves as a Researcher in the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises at the University of Parma, Italy. She teaches core French language courses including Language and Translation - French Language I/II and specialized subjects like Teaching Francophone Cultures across multiple cohorts of the Modern Foreign Languages and Civilizations bachelor's program (2013-2026) and Languages, Cultures, Communication master's program.

Her research centers on French linguistic structures, translation theory, and Francophone literary traditions with particular expertise in Caribbean postcolonial writers. She investigates narrative techniques in authors like Patrick Chamoiseau and Édouard Glissant, analyzes passion and identity in Marguerite Yourcenar's work, and examines Philippe Claudel's contemporary fiction. This scholarship engages deeply with themes of slavery representation, cultural decolonization, and creolization processes within Francophone contexts.

Dr. Pessini's 2022-2023 publications reveal concentrated exploration of Caribbean literary traditions and contemporary French fiction. Her work consistently addresses historical trauma, identity construction through language, and cross-cultural translation challenges, contributing significantly to postcolonial literary discourse. The recurring focus on Glissant and Chamoiseau demonstrates specialized knowledge in Martinican intellectual traditions and their global implications.
