Elena Antelmi

Elena Antelmi serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering for Innovation Medicine within the School of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Verona. Her academic appointment focuses on neurological sciences across multiple degree programs including Human Centered Medical System Engineering, Preventive and Adapted Exercise Science, Orthopaedics Techniques, and the Combined Bachelor's + Master's degree in Medicine and Surgery.

Her research interests center on neurodegenerative disorders, sleep-related conditions (particularly REM and NREM parasomnias), and movement disorders. She investigates molecular mechanisms and biomarkers in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases within the Functional and Personalized Regenerative Medicine research group. Her work spans neurological diseases of aging and the neural basis of behavior including sleep and consciousness.

Professor Antelmi maintains active teaching responsibilities across six different academic programs, delivering specialized neurology instruction ranging from foundational courses to advanced clinical training. She contributes significantly to postgraduate neurology specialization programs and PhD-level instruction in neuroscience.

Administratively, she serves on multiple governance bodies including the PhD Faculty Board in Neuroscience, the Council for Medicine and Surgery, the Orthopaedic Techniques Teaching Committee, the Sports Science Teaching Committee, and the Neurology Specialization School Council. Her institutional involvement extends to departmental councils for Engineering in Innovative Medicine.
