Eleanor Mattern

Eleanor "Nora" Mattern is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Computing and Information and Director of the Sara Fine Institute. Her work focuses on library engagement with civic data ecosystems, digital literacy, and ethical information practices.

• Research areas: Archives and digital curation, community-centered information work, civic engagement, information policy and ethics

Prior roles include:

• Librarian and Researcher at University of Chicago Library
• Visiting Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Pittsburgh

She earned her PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. Key awards include multiple IMLS grants for civic data initiatives.
