Eileen Shifflett

Eileen Shifflett is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at James Madison University (JMU), holding the J.S. Held Scholar title. She has been affiliated with JMU since 2002, teaching and researching spreadsheet design and efficiency. Prior to academia, she worked as a Senior Accountant at Cargill, Inc. (1991–2002) and Staff Accountant at Price Waterhouse in Washington, D.C. (1989–1991). She also serves as a consultant for Corporate CFO Services since 2011.

Her research focuses on integrating technology into accounting education, exemplified by her 2019 publication in the Journal of Accounting Education, which explores game-based approaches to teaching Excel shortcuts. She holds an M.B.A. and B.B.A. from JMU.
