Dr. Eileen E. Schell is Professor of Writing and Rhetoric and L. Douglas and Laura J. Meredith Professor of Teaching Excellence at Syracuse University. Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an M.A. in English from the University of Washington.
Her research spans feminist rhetorics, food justice activism, community literacy, veterans studies, and academic labor issues. Dr. Schell has authored and edited several books including 'Rural Literacies' and 'Moving a Mountain: Transforming the Role of Contingent Faculty in Composition Studies and Higher Education'.
She founded community writing initiatives including the Syracuse Veterans' Writing Group and Nottingham Senior Living Community writing workshop. Dr. Schell teaches courses in feminist rhetorics, advocacy writing, creative nonfiction, and food rhetorics.
