Ehsan Sharifi

Dr. Ehsan Sharifi is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Adelaide, Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He is also affiliated with the Environment Institute and serves as the HDR Coordinator, overseeing higher degree research candidates. His work bridges architecture, landscape design, and environmental science to promote sustainable and resilient urban environments.

His research focuses on urban microclimates, the urban heat island effect, outdoor thermal and wind comfort, and climate-responsive urban design. Key areas include environmental assessment of buildings and landscapes, low-carbon urban development, passive design strategies, and urban greening for climate change adaptation. He advocates for the application of scientific methods in architecture and placemaking.

Dr. Sharifi completed three consecutive postdoctoral positions at the University of South Australia (UniSA), the University of Adelaide, and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) before joining the academic staff in 2018. His educational background includes a PhD in Architecture – Applied Science from UniSA, a Master of Architecture from the University of Tehran (UT), a Master of Sustainable Design from UniSA, and a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Tehran University of Arts (TUA).

He is actively involved in teaching and research supervision, supporting the next generation of architects and engineers in addressing urban environmental challenges. He is eligible to supervise both Master’s and PhD students. His work contributes to making cities more livable and resilient in the face of climate change.
