Efrat Hakimi is the Charles C. Bergman Visiting Professor of Studio Art at the Department of Art, Stony Brook University. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2019) and a BSc from Ben-Gurion University (2010). Her work explores relationships between bodies and cultural artifacts through multidisciplinary practices, emphasizing feminist theory, social justice, and anti-colonialism.
Key exhibitions include solo/group shows at the Israel Museum (Jerusalem), Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago). Awards include the 2023 New Jewish Culture Fellowship and 2020 Lauren and Mitchell Presser Award.
Her research spans installation art, lens-based media, and printmaking, interrogating narratives embedded in objects and spaces. She currently resides in Brooklyn with her partner and child.
