About
Eeske van Roekel serves as an Associate Professor at Tilburg University's Department of Developmental Psychology within the Tilburg School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is affiliated with both the Academic Collaborative Center for Digital Health & Mental Wellbeing and the Tilburg Experience Sampling Center (TESC). Her work contributes to multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health and well-being.
Her research focuses on three interconnected areas: (1) emotional reactivity and emotion regulation in daily life experiences, (2) improving Experience Sampling Method research through developing guidelines and best practices, and (3) creating personalized Experience Sampling interventions to enhance mental health and well-being. She examines both clinical aspects (what can go wrong in emotional processes, particularly related to internalizing problems) and positive psychology perspectives (how people can thrive through positive emotions and regulation strategies).
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on applying experience sampling methodology to understand emotional processes in real-world contexts. Her work spans diverse populations including cancer patients, adolescents, young adults, and career starters. She frequently investigates how momentary experiences relate to broader psychological outcomes, with particular attention to resilience, well-being, and intervention effectiveness.
In teaching, van Roekel serves as track coordinator for the master's track in Positive Psychology and Well-being. Within this program, she supervises master's theses and coordinates the Assessment & Interventions course. She also teaches Development of Talent & Motivation at the bachelor's level.
Her laboratory work centers around the Tilburg Experience Sampling Center, where she conducts research using Ecological Momentary Assessment techniques. Her research often involves collaborations across multiple institutions, as evidenced by her diverse publication record spanning psychology, oncology, and digital health domains.
