About
Edwin ter Voert is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Manager at the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine, ETH Zurich. He leads the LOOP Zurich Biomedical Informatics Imaging (BMI2) Platform project, focused on integrating AI/ML tools into biomedical research infrastructure. Previously, he worked on the PHRT project at ETH Zurich’s Biomedical Image Computing group and contributed to SPHN’s medical imaging standards. His technical expertise spans PET/MR scanner optimization, radiation dose reduction, and multimodal imaging for cancer diagnostics. He holds a PhD in Medical Sciences from Radboud University (Nijmegen, Netherlands), with prior research on colorectal liver metastases using MRI/PET. His career bridges software engineering (Hogeschool Enschede) and biomedical engineering (TU/e Eindhoven).
Research interests include:
- Medical imaging technologies (PET/MR, IVIM, DCE-MRI)
- Machine learning integration in clinical imaging workflows
- Standardized biomedical data platforms (SPHN-compliant)
- Quantitative tumor assessment and treatment response
Key projects include BMI2 platform development, metal artifact reduction in PET/MR, and dose optimization for FDG and PSMA-11 imaging. He has collaborated closely with the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and SPHN initiatives.
