Edward Kernick, DPM, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at the UNC School of Medicine. He holds a BS from Penn State University and a DPM from the WMS School of Podiatric Medicine, with postgraduate surgical training at the Podiatry Hospital of Pittsburgh. As a primary faculty member, he teaches human anatomy and neuroanatomy across medicine, dentistry, physical therapy, and physician assistant programs. He co-directs the MTEC 101, 102, and 103 courses in the Translational Education at Carolina (TEC) curriculum and serves as a College Advisor in the Larry Keith Medical College Advisory program. His research focuses on integrating technology to enhance medical education and improve learning outcomes through interactive sessions.
Dr. Kernick’s awards reflect his excellence in teaching, including the Wallace ’69 Distinguished Teaching Professorship (2013–2016), Hyman L. Battle Excellence Award (2014), and multiple university-level recognitions. He also holds an adjunct role as Associate Professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences.
