Dr Edward Ho Yu Tat serves as a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at Brunel University London within the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences, bringing over 20 years of international teaching and research experience across the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China.
His academic credentials include:
- B.Eng. (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University (2000), with final year project on 'Ultrasound Calibration in Augmented Reality for Therapy'
- Ph.D. in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering from University College London (2008), thesis titled 'Resolution Improvement and the Effect of Blurring on Medical Image Analysis and Computer Vision'
Dr Ho's research spans engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics, and statistics, with current emphasis on medical image computing, analysis, processing, reconstruction, and artificial intelligence. He pioneered a blob-based super-resolution image reconstruction framework during his doctoral work and now collaborates with Professor Zang-Hee Cho on advanced techniques like super-resolution track density imaging following the 7.0 Tesla MRI scanner installation.
He actively teaches the B.Sc. Mathematics in Data Science Programme at the BUL-NCUT TNE campus in Beijing, China, integrating his interdisciplinary expertise into curriculum development.
Dr Ho maintains significant collaborative relationships with leading medical imaging researchers, notably contributing to innovations in PET-MRI technology through his work with Professor Cho's team.
