Edward A. Koning is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph. He holds a PhD from Queen’s University. His research focuses on the politics of immigration, particularly in North West Europe and North America, emphasizing immigrants’ social rights and the role of populist anti-immigrant parties. He is the author of Immigration and the Politics of Welfare Exclusion (2019) and creator of the Immigrant Exclusion from Social Programs Index.
His education includes a doctoral degree in Political Studies from Queen’s University. His work has been published in journals such as Canadian Public Administration, Comparative European Politics, and Journal of Public Policy. He has edited volumes on immigrant welfare exclusion and contributed chapters to major handbooks on migration and citizenship.
Edward teaches courses on political research methods, European politics, comparative immigration policies, and public administration. He has previously taught advanced methods courses and graduate seminars on citizenship and social policy.
