About
Edvard Haraldsen Valberg is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate in the Department of Improvised Music, Jazz, and Folk Music at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He leads the project 'Will to Chaos' at NordART, focusing on artistic development in liminal music practices. His work bridges academic research and performance as the vocalist/cellist for the band Honningbarna.
Research Focus
Valberg investigates boundary-transcending music through:
- Liminal Practices: Studying chaos-driven events like punk concerts and raves that dissolve performer-audience barriers.
- Artistic Experimentation: Using studios and stages as labs to explore transformative musical experiences.
- Cultural Integration: Connecting institutional academia with non-institutional art traditions.
Theoretical foundations include post-humanist philosophy and critiques of structuralism.
