Eduardo Jorge Sousa da Rocha

Full Professor at Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) – University of Porto and Principal Investigator at CIIMAR Research Centre. Currently serves as Department Director of Microscopy, Director of Histology and Embryology Laboratory, and holds multiple leadership roles including Course Director for Master's and Doctoral programs in Marine Sciences and Biomedical Sciences.

Research focuses on environmental health and biomedical science intersection, specifically examining how endocrine and metabolic disruptors affect aquatic life. Combines analysis of direct effects in fish liver and gonads with assessments of natural seasonal changes, while investigating how these disruptors interfere with anticancer drug efficacy. Research spans histology, cell biology, toxicology, ecotoxicology, and animal physiology.

Oversees the Histology and Embryology Laboratory at ICBAS, providing facilities for morphological and toxicological research. The AMTOX group focuses on animal morphology, toxicology, and the effects of environmental contaminants on aquatic organisms, with particular expertise in endocrine disruption mechanisms.
