Dr. Edson Redy Moreira dos Santos is an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Verde, holding positions in both the Faculty of Social Science, Humans, and Arts and the School of Business and Governance. He is also a Research Member at the Research Center for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being (CinTurs). With a PhD in Tourism from the University of Algarve, Dr. Santos brings extensive expertise in tourism policy, destination development, and sustainable tourism practices, particularly in small island contexts.

Dr. Santos' research focuses on understanding resident perceptions of tourism development, community empowerment through tourism, and sustainable destination management. His work employs sophisticated data analysis techniques using SPSS, IBM AMOS, and SmartPLS to derive meaningful insights from both quantitative and qualitative data. He has developed specialized measurement tools like the Resident Empowerment through Tourism Scale (RETS 2.0) to assess community engagement with tourism development.
