Prof. Dr. Edo Vellenga is a Full Professor at the Department of Hematology within the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen. His academic career spans over four decades, including roles as Assistant Professor (1987–1990) and Associate Professor (1990–2000). He currently leads the Cancer Research Center Groningen (CRCG) and holds editorial roles in hematology journals. His research focuses on hematologic malignancies, stem cell biology, and autophagy mechanisms in cancer.
Education: MD from University of Groningen (1978), followed by specialized training in Internal Medicine and Hematology at University Hospital Groningen. He completed fellowships at Harvard Medical School (1986–1987) and the Dr. Daniël den Hoed Cancer Center (1985–1986).
