Edel Lamb is a Senior Lecturer in the English Department at Queen's University Belfast (QUB), affiliated with the School of Arts, English and Languages and the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice. Her research focuses on early modern literature, Shakespeare, childhood studies, and girlhood, with a particular emphasis on textual cultures and performance. She has held prestigious fellowships from organizations including the Leverhulme Trust and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Lamb teaches modules such as Shakespearean Childhoods and Renaissance Performance, Gender, Space.
Her research explores intersections between early modern children and literary cultures, including work on girls' writing (1544–1704) and the role of children’s playing companies. She co-leads projects on girls’ participatory cultures and arts-based peacebuilding, collaborating with institutions like the Girl Museum. Recent work includes a Leverhulme-funded study on early modern girlhood and a special issue on Shakespeare and riot.
