Ed Stoddard is an Associate Professor in International Security at the University of Portsmouth, based in the School of Area Studies within the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. His research focuses on regional security, armed conflict dynamics, and authoritarian governance across West Africa, the Levant, the Gulf, and the former Soviet Union. He leads projects like the British Academy-funded study on Sahel and Lake Chad conflicts.
