Ecaterina Cristea

Ecaterina Cristea, MD is a Research Scientist in Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She holds primary appointment in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and affiliations with Angio Core Lab, Internal Medicine, and Yale Cardiovascular Clinical Research Group. Her work focuses on interventional cardiology innovations, vascular physiology, and clinical trial methodologies.

Dr. Cristea earned her MD from University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timisoara (1994). Her research interests include coronary vasomotor disorders in ischemic patients with nonobstructive arteries, catheter-based therapies for pulmonary embolism, and device development for calcified lesions. She leads the DISCOVER INOCA registry and contributed to the ENGULF thrombectomy trial.

Key collaborative projects involve advanced imaging techniques, hemodynamic analysis during interventional procedures, and sex-specific outcomes in cardiovascular interventions. She has co-authored studies on contrast media effects and lithotripsy applications.
