Ebony Flowers

Ebony Flowers is an Assistant Professor in Wake Forest University's Department of English. She holds a PhD from University of Wisconsin-Madison and BA from University of Maryland College Park. Her creative scholarship spans cartooning, fiction, and creative non-fiction.

Flowers teaches courses including CRW 286: Picture Writing Inside Out and CRW 386: Writing Into Liveliness, focusing on visual-textual integration and narrative techniques. Her graphic novel Hot Comb (Drawn & Quarterly, 2019) critically examines race, gender, and identity through intimate portrayals of Black hair culture.

Her work situates personal narratives within broader socio-cultural examinations, utilizing visual media as primary analytical tools.
