Elias José Feijó Torres is a Full Professor of Portuguese Literature and Methodology of Literary and Cultural Analysis at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). He leads the Galabra Group, a transdisciplinary research network focusing on Galician, Portuguese, Brazilian, and Lusophone African cultural systems. His academic roles include Dean of the Faculty of Philology (2020–present), Vice Chancellor of Culture (2006–2009), and President of the International Association of Lusitanists (2008–2014). He holds a PhD Extraordinary Award (1996) for his thesis on Galician-Portuguese literary magazines (1900–1936).
His research explores cultural systems theory, identity sustainability, tourism-community dynamics, and linguistic normalization. Key works include Bem-estar comunitário e visitantes através do Caminho em Santiago (2019) and Heteronomias em textos e historiografia da literatura galega (2022). He co-founded spin-off companies in Humanities and directs the Galabra research network.
Feijó Torres has supervised 13 PhD theses, all with highest honors, and promotes interdisciplinary methodologies combining cultural anthropology, sociology, and computational linguistics. His recent focus includes the sociocultural impact of the Camino de Santiago and strategies for community well-being amid tourism pressures.
