Elena Bandín Fuertes is a Professor at the Department of Modern Philology, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of León. Her work focuses on English Philology, with a specialization in Shakespearean studies, translation, and censorship in Francoist Spain.
She earned her PhD from the University of León in 2007 with the thesis "Traducción, recepción y censura de teatro clásico inglés en la España de Franco," supervised by Dr. José Luis Chamosa. She leads the TRACE research group (Translation and Censorship) and has developed the TRACE Corpus Tagger/Aligner software (2015) for textual analysis.
Her research examines Shakespearean adaptations in political contexts, including television (2023) and comic books (2024), alongside historical studies of censorship (2014) and ideological manipulation (2022). Her publications also cover educational methodologies in the European Higher Education Area (2010-2011).
