- Ph.D. in Biomedical and Veterinary Science, Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. McDaniel's research bridges immunology, neuroscience, and nanomedicine. His doctoral work examined nanoparticles as drug delivery vehicles and their inflammatory effects in the lungs, while his postdoctoral studies explored sex differences in immune-stress interactions. Current research focuses on the immune system's role in behavioral responses to stress, particularly in mood disorders. This interdisciplinary work integrates molecular mechanisms with physiological outcomes.
His 13 publications (2015-2019) predominantly investigate neuroimmunology, inflammasome regulation, NF-kB signaling, nanoparticle applications, and stress pathophysiology. Articles frequently utilize murine models and target therapeutic innovations for inflammatory diseases, cancer, and neurological conditions.
Teaching responsibilities include NEUR 2036: Neuroscience Laboratory II and NEUR 2554: Experimental Neuroscience, emphasizing hands-on methodological training in neuroscience research.
