Dylan B. Jackson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is affiliated with multiple research centers, including the Center for Adolescent Health, the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health, the Early Childhood Services Research Program, and the Wendy Klag Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities.
His research focuses on child and adolescent health, crime, violence, incarceration, policing, adverse childhood experiences, mental health, and health equity. As a developmental and health criminologist, he uses a life-course lens to examine how criminal legal system contact affects health outcomes among youth and families.
His recent publications span high-impact journals such as JAMA Pediatrics, Pediatrics, American Journal of Public Health, and Criminology. The research trends indicate a strong emphasis on police-adolescent interactions, the health consequences of incarceration, trauma, and structural inequities. His work increasingly integrates interdisciplinary methods and policy implications.
