Professor Dustin Dixon is an Assistant Professor of Classics at Grinnell College and currently serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Classical Studies (ICS) from June to August 2021. His research focuses on ancient drama, fragmentary texts, performance practices, and classical receptions. He co-authored the book Performing Gods in Classical Antiquity and the Age of Shakespeare, which examines the representation of deities in ancient and early modern theater.
During his fellowship at ICS, he is working on a new book analyzing fragments of Greek and Roman mythological comedy, exploring how comic poets engaged with mythological traditions to shape their audiences' perceptions of the genre. His work bridges classical and early modern studies, emphasizing the evolving roles of comedy in cultural contexts.
