Dr. Dustin Atlas is an Assistant Professor and Director of Jewish Studies in the School of Religion at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. His research focuses on contemporary Jewish thought, identity, and aesthetics, particularly addressing themes like fragility, imperfection, and non-human creatures. He bridges Jewish Studies with broader Religious Studies, examining post-colonialism, new materialism, animal studies, and affect theory. His current book project explores Martin Buber’s philosophy in a post-human context. He teaches courses like RELS 398/897 - Judaism In The Modern Age.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Religious Studies (Rice University, 2013), M.A. in Religious Studies (Rice University, 2010), M.A. in Theory and Criticism (University of Western Ontario, 2005), and a B.A. in Philosophy and Humanities (York University, 2003).
