Academic Profile
Dr. Duoduo (Dora) Wang is an Assistant Professor of Plant Physiology at the University of New Hampshire's College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. She serves as Associate Editor for The Journal of Horticultural Science & Biotechnology and holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham (2018), with postdoctoral experience at the University of Florida and Cornell University.
Research Focus
Her laboratory investigates genetic and molecular mechanisms of fruit softening using tomato as a model system. Research integrates molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and genomics to address postharvest challenges, balancing quality preservation with shelf-life extension. Current projects examine cell wall modification enzymes, disease resistance pathways, and CRISPR-based genetic interventions.
Applications
Work addresses significant postharvest losses in horticultural crops, developing strategies to improve fruit quality while maintaining desirable traits like flavor. Findings have implications for multiple fleshy fruit crops beyond tomato.
Laboratory
Seeks motivated graduate and undergraduate students for hands-on training in plant physiology, molecular biology, and functional genomics techniques.
