Professor Drew Hemment is Theme Lead for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences in Data-Centric Engineering at The Alan Turing Institute and holds a Professorship in Data Arts and Society at the University of Edinburgh. He leads The New Real, a transformative research initiative exploring AI, Arts, and Creativity. His work focuses on Experiential AI, bridging Data Science, Explainable AI, and Creative Arts to ensure human-centric technological advancements.
Research emphasizes interdisciplinary methods to democratize technology exploration and foster societal responsibility. Hemment is a prominent public speaker, appearing on BBC's Moral Maze and BBC Radio Scotland's Afternoon Show. He serves on the Editorial Board of Leonardo and the Alan Turing Institute's Arts, Humanities and Heritage Steering Group.
