Drew Chappell is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Chapman University's College of Performing Arts. His work bridges Performance Studies, Theatre for Social Change, and Theatre Pedagogy, with a focus on play as curriculum and global performance traditions.
His research explores social justice through the arts, play as performance, and curriculum development for diverse educational settings. He co-edited Play, Performance, and Identity and authored Children Under Construction, both addressing ludic spaces and critical pedagogies.
Recent creative works include Time Mirrors (2021), a play for youth audiences, and contributions to Noorda Theatre Youth Plays. He has taught educational theatre residencies across K-12 levels, including on a Pima reservation, and directed a professional summer theatre camp.
