Drew Baden

Drew Baden is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on experimental particle physics with accelerators, including work with the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the Next Generation Lunar Retroreflector (NGLR), and the Axion Dark Matter Experiment (ADMX). He has contributed to designing trigger electronics for the CMS hadron calorimeter and was part of the D0 collaboration at Fermilab that discovered the top quark in 1995.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate physics courses such as PHYS 161 and PHYS 270 for engineering students, as well as specialized courses like PHYS 495 (Contemporary Data Acquisition Systems). His research spans fundamental interactions of particles and collaborations with institutions like the University of Washington on dark matter experiments.
