Drew Allen is a Senior Lecturer on Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) and Associate Provost for Institutional Research & Analytics in Harvard's Provost Office. He holds a Ph.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from New York University (2015), an M.A. in Quantitative Methods from Columbia University, and a B.A. from the University of Arkansas.
His research focuses on higher education policy, institutional analytics, and enrollment management. Allen has held leadership roles at Georgetown University (Associate Vice President of Institutional Data Analytics), NYU Steinhardt (Research Fellow), Princeton University (Executive Director of IDEAS), and CUNY (founder of integrated research/academic support programs).
Key areas of expertise include data-driven decision-making, educational access, student achievement, and strategic enrollment planning. He teaches courses on enrollment management and has contributed to publications such as Research in Higher Education and New Directions for Higher Education.
Allen leads Harvard's Office of Institutional Research & Analytics (OIRA), which supports evidence-based strategic planning. His recent work examines tuition policies' impact on diversity and dual enrollment programs' effectiveness.
