Douglas Kowalewski

Douglas Kowalewski is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Lehigh University, joining in Fall 2025 after completing his Ph.D. at the University at Albany, SUNY. He holds a B.A. in Psychology & History from Gettysburg College and an M.A. in Psychology from SUNY Albany.

His research focuses on the intersection of social psychology, cognitive psychology, and music perception, exploring themes like motivation in music training, cross-modal aesthetic responses, and psychoacoustic factors in music preference. Recent work investigates consonance perception, harmony preference, and links between self-worth and cognitive performance in musical contexts.

His publications span journals such as Musicae Scientiae, Psychomusicology: Music, Mind, and Brain, and Music Perception, covering topics from dyad sequences to tonal working memory. Collaborative efforts with researchers like Friedman, Song, and Vuvan highlight interdisciplinary approaches to music cognition.
