Douglas Hamilton

Douglas Hamilton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on understanding how wildfires and natural aerosols interact within Earth System processes, including their impacts on climate, biogeochemical cycles, and ocean health. He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (2016) and an MSc from the University of East Anglia (2012).

Key research areas include aerosol coupling across Earth's spheres (solid surface, oceans, atmosphere, biosphere), fire regime changes affecting atmospheric energy balance and air quality, and aerosol nutrient impacts on marine productivity.
