Douglas B Williams

Douglas B Williams is a Professor and Senior Associate Dean at the College of Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. He joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) faculty in 1989 and has held leadership roles such as Associate Chair for Undergraduate Affairs (2003–2011) and Interim School Chair (2011–2012).

Education:

• BSEE in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University (1984)
• MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University (1987)
• PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University (1989)

Research Interests: His work focuses on applying statistical signal processing to communications, adaptive radar systems, and nonlinear dynamics. He has contributed to education and theory in these areas through editorial and committee roles.

Honors & Awards:

• Georgia Tech's Women in Engineering Excellence Faculty Mentoring Award (2005)
• GE Young Faculty Award (1990)

Memberships: He is part of honor societies Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Beta Kappa, and active in IEEE committees.

Additional Roles: Dr. Williams serves as Special Sections Area Editor for the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine and co-edited the Digital Signal Processing Handbook (CRC Press and IEEE Press, 1998).
