About
Doug Kulchar is a Researcher and Post-doctoral Teaching Assistant in the Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University. His work bridges rhetoric, philosophy, and analytical approaches to mind and language. He holds a BA in English and Philosophy from The George Washington University (2013), an MA in English from Penn State (2017), and a PhD in English from Penn State (2022).
His research focuses on rhetoric’s historical relationship with philosophy, particularly its probabilistic reasoning in incomplete information contexts. He explores intersections with logic, computer science, and systems theory, aiming to reconcile logic and rhetoric post-19th-century mathematization. A second project traces persuasion’s genealogy from German Idealism to American Pragmatism.
