Dorina Rosca is a Lecturer-researcher at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and President of RC09 – Social Transformation and Sociology of Development at the International Sociological Association (ISA). She also serves as President of the European Institute for Development Studies and maintains an ORCID profile (0000-0002-3195-3256).
Her doctoral research focused on systemic transformation in post-Soviet Moldova, specifically examining the social category of 'intellectuals' and social capital, supervised by Professor Bernard CHAVANCE at Université Paris-VII Denis Diderot. This work was published as a monograph 'Le grand tournant de la société moldave' in February 2019 by Presses de l'INALCO.
Dr. Rosca's research spans three interconnected themes: (A) Change in socio-economic systems and economic integration mechanisms; (B) Social capital (Bourdieu's framework), private solidarity, and social networks; (C) International migration patterns. Her geographical expertise covers Central Europe with particular focus on Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine, employing interdisciplinary methodologies from institutional economics, sociology, ethnography, and political science.
She currently leads significant research initiatives including HESPRI (Horizon Europe project 2023-2026) where she coordinates working group WP3, GLITSS COST Action (2022-2026) on globalization and security, and recently completed a Fulbright project on curriculum transformation (2022-2023). Her earlier work included a comprehensive ethnographic study of Moldovan migrants in Paris (2017-2021).
Her scholarly recognition includes:

- Fulbright scholarship at Marymount University (August 2023-January 2024)
Dr. Rosca maintains active international engagement as an invited speaker at prestigious institutions including University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Pace University. She serves as President of RC09 at ISA (2023-2027), organizes major conference sessions at ISA World Congresses, and reviews for prominent journals including International Journal of Comparative Sociology and Post-Communist Economies. Her methodological expertise encompasses both qualitative (in-depth interviews) and quantitative (questionnaire-based) research approaches developed during her fieldwork in Moldova.
