Donya Wallace

Dr. Donya Wallace is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling department at Palo Alto University, California. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina, alongside an M.A. in Counseling from Webster University and a B.S. in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina. Her work focuses on African American women’s mental health, socio-cultural trauma, and culturally informed clinical training. She currently serves as CACREP Liaison, co-advisor for Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society, and chairs the Leadership and Advocacy Committee for the Association of Counselors Educators and Supervisors (ACES). Dr. Wallace is also treasurer of the PeeDee Medical Professionals Association, addressing healthcare disparities in African American communities.

Her research emphasizes the Strong Black Woman archetype, rural mental health, and intersectional identity exploration. Notable publications include analyses of wellness strategies among marginalized groups and culturally adapted therapeutic interventions. Professional recognitions include the NBCCF Minority Fellowship (2018-19), SACES Emerging Leader Award (2018), and CE&S Fellow designation (2021).

Dr. Wallace’s clinical practice spans over two decades, with experience in community mental health, intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. Her work integrates advocacy, pedagogy, and clinical innovation to address systemic inequities in mental healthcare access and quality.
