Donovan Stuart Bisbee

Donovan Stuart Bisbee is a Lecturer and Director of Oral Communication Courses in the Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College, City University of New York. He is affiliated with the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, where he teaches courses in persuasion, free speech, and rhetorical theory.

Research Interests: Dr. Bisbee's work centers on the intersection of legal discourse and public rhetoric, with emphasis on U.S. presidential communication (Jackson, Lincoln, FDR), constitutional interpretation, and interbranch conflicts. His research dissects how technical legal arguments permeate public discourse to influence perceptions of justice and state power.

Publications: His scholarly output includes analyses of historical constitutional crises, Supreme Court rhetoric, and presidential strategies. Recent works explore themes like the Compromise of 1850, FDR's fireside chats, and the rhetorical construction of diversity in legal opinions.
