Professor Donna Geddes is a leading human lactation scientist at the University of Western Australia (UWA), holding roles as Director of the UWA Centre for Human Lactation Research and Translation, Director of the ABREAST Network, and Head of the Geddes Hartmann Human Lactation Research Group. She also serves as Sensor Lead for the ARC Training Centre for Next-Gen Biomedical Analysis and Honorary Research Associate at Telethon Kids Institute and MCRI.
Her research focuses on lactation physiology, maternal-infant health, and ultrasound imaging of breastfeeding mechanics. Key projects include developing milk sensors, studying human milk composition, and investigating preterm infant breastfeeding. She has secured grants from Medela, NHMRC, and ARC, among others.
Donna has received prestigious awards, including the Vice-Chancellor's Senior Research Award (2022) and the ISRHML Ehrlich-Koldovsky Early Career Award (2008). Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
