Donald Paul

Donald Paul serves as Research Professor of Engineering, Earth Sciences, and Policy, Planning and Development at the University of Southern California (USC). He is the Executive Director of the USC Energy Institute, established in 2008 to advance energy-related research, education, and public policy. Previously, he spent 33 years at Chevron, culminating as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer before retiring in 2008.

His research focuses on energy systems, policy integration, and sustainable resource development. The USC Energy Institute, under his leadership, bridges academic and industrial collaboration in energy innovation. Dr. Paul holds the prestigious William M. Keck Chair in Energy Resources, reflecting his contributions to the field.

His career spans technical leadership in energy technology and strategic policy, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary solutions. Current roles include administrative appointments at the USC Dornsife College, where he fosters cross-disciplinary energy initiatives.
