Donald P. Visco Jr.

Dr. Donald P. Visco Jr. is a Professor in the Chemical, Biomolecular, and Corrosion Engineering department at the University of Akron's College of Engineering and Polymer Science. He has held leadership roles including Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies (2011-2016), Interim Dean (2016), and Dean (2016-2018) of the College of Engineering. His career spans academia and industry, with prior positions at Sandia National Laboratories, US Navy, AlliedSignal, and Union Carbide.

• Education: Ph.D. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from University at Buffalo, SUNY

Dr. Visco's research focuses on computer-aided molecular design, virtual high-throughput database screening, and thermodynamics, with a strong emphasis on engineering education. He has contributed to curriculum development through courses like Thermodynamics, Material and Energy Balances, and Chemical Engineering Analysis.

Scientific honors include the ASEE National Outstanding Teaching Award, DOE Presidential Early Career Award, and recognition as a ASEE Fellow. He currently serves as Editor of Chemical Engineering Education.
