Donald K Thorndyke II serves as an Instructor of Contracting at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), specifically within the School of Systems & Logistics. He is part of the Logistics and Systems Branch faculty, where he teaches specialized courses in contracting for military personnel and civilians.
Mr. Thorndyke's expertise focuses exclusively on Contracting, where he serves as a subject-matter expert authority. He delivers curriculum for all new military accessions and select civilians through a 5-week, in-resident course for the Air Force's badge awarding program for Contracting Professionals. His instructional responsibilities include the Mission Ready Contracting Officer Course (MRC 102), SYS 120 Teaming with DCMA, and SYS 166 Interest Based Negotiations course, where he also leads the Supervisors Workshop development.
Mr. Thorndyke holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University (2014) and is certified at Contracting Level II through the Acquisition Professional Development Program. His professional background includes service as a Superintendent/Contracting Officer at Altus Air Force Base and as a Contracting Officer with the Department of Transportation.
