University of Texas Southwestern Medical CenterAbout
Donald Glass is a Professor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he leads the Glass Lab. His research focuses on genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying keloid formation and rare skin disorders such as pure hair and nail ectodermal dysplasia. Dr. Glass completed his MD and PhD at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by dermatology residency and a postdoctoral fellowship at UT Southwestern. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and actively practices general dermatology with a focus on genetic skin disorders.
Education & Training:
- PhD in Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine (2005)
- MD, Baylor College of Medicine (2006)
- Residency in Dermatology, UT Southwestern Medical Center
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, McDermott Center (Helen Hobbs Lab)
Research Interests:
- Genetic predisposition to keloids, particularly in populations of color
- Identification of genes causing rare skin disorders (e.g., PHNED, CAP syndrome)
- Keloid registry development for biomarker discovery
- Molecular pathways in skin fibrosis and wound healing
Publications: Dr. Glass has published widely on keloid pathogenesis, genodermatoses, and dermatological therapeutics. Recent work includes studies on pentoxifylline for keloid prevention, genetic mutations in ectodermal dysplasia, and patient adherence to dermatologic medications.
Awards & Affiliations: Active member of the American Academy of Dermatology. Honors include recognition for contributions to keloid research (specific awards unspecified).
Labs & Teams: The Glass Lab employs multidisciplinary approaches combining genetics, molecular biology, and clinical studies. Collaborations focus on translational research to develop therapies for keloids and inherited skin diseases.
