Don Simmons

Don Simmons is an Assistant Professor at the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at Simmons University. He holds an EdD from the University of Southern Mississippi and an MLIS from Syracuse University. Prior to joining Simmons, he worked at public and academic libraries, including White Plains Public Library and Westchester Community College Library, where he served as Information Literacy Coordinator and Student Engagement Librarian.

His research focuses on misinformation, algorithmic bias, and information privilege, emphasizing progressive pedagogical practices for one-shot instruction. He is also expanding his work to explore the intersection of AI with library and information studies and its impact on information systems. Simmons received the North Star Collective Faculty Fellowship, which supports racial healing for BIPOC faculty.
