Don Joseph is a Research Fellow at the University of Missouri's School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, within the College of Arts and Science. His research focuses on migration, masculinity, and queer phenomenology in the Mediterranean region, engaging with Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Catalan communities. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, alongside certificates in Cultural Studies and Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies, and a B.A. in French and Cognitive Psychology from the University of North Texas.
His interdisciplinary work combines quantitative and qualitative methods to explore transnational politics, sociocultural movements, and queer theory. He has published with Edinburgh University Press and journals like Contemporary French and Francophone Studies, and actively organizes academic events on postcolonial discourse and activism, such as discussions with graphic novelists and filmmakers.
Dr. Joseph is affiliated with the Afro-Romance Institute and Migration Studies initiatives. His research emphasizes LGBTQIA+ migrant experiences and the intersections of displacement, identity, and cultural production.
